Motorized Blinds and Shades in Louisville and Lexington, KY

What are motorized blinds and shades?

Motorized blinds and shades let you raise, lower, and tilt your window treatments with a remote, a wall switch, your phone, or your voice. Window Fashions on Wheels designs, orders, and sets up motorized treatments for homes in Louisville, Lexington, and Central Kentucky. Rebecca Farris brings the samples to your house, so you see every fabric in your own light.

They are custom window treatments with a small motor built in. Instead of pulling a cord or reaching for a wand, you press a button or give a command. The shade moves smoothly and stops where you want it. There are no dangling cords, which also makes them a safer choice around children and pets.

Which window treatments can be motorized?

Motors can go into many of the shades we offer. Some blinds can be motorized too. Rebecca will tell you which options work for your windows during your consultation.

Roller shades - sleek and modern simplicity

Roller shades

Provide a clean, modern look that works beautifully in contemporary spaces. They roll neatly out of sight when raised, a practical choice for bedrooms, living rooms, and offices.

Solar shades - sun protection with a view

Solar shades

Reduce glare and block harmful UV rays while keeping your outside view. A great choice for sunrooms, patios, and large windows.

Roman Shades – Classic Elegance in Every Fold

Roman shades

A timeless choice that brings sophistication and softness to any room. Made from rich fabrics that fold neatly when raised.

Cellular shades - energy-efficient honeycomb design

Cellular shades

Also known as honeycomb shades, they add insulation at the window while offering excellent light control and privacy.

Dual shades and woven-texture shades

Dual and woven shades

Dual shades layer two fabrics so you can choose between light filtering and privacy. Woven-texture shades bring natural warmth to a room.

Battery or hardwired: which is right for your home?

Rechargeable battery

Many motorized shades run on rechargeable batteries, so there is no wiring and no wall repair. That makes them an easy upgrade for a home you already live in.

Hardwired

Hardwired options suit new construction and renovations, where wiring is easy to plan ahead. We explain the trade-offs for each room before you decide.

Do motorized shades make sense in a Kentucky home?

Yes, and the seasons are part of the reason.

Summer sun

Summer sun in Louisville and across the Bluegrass can heat a room and fade furniture. Light-filtering solar shades soften glare and block UV, and a schedule can close them before the hottest part of the day without you thinking about it.

Winter chill

In winter, cellular shades add a layer of insulation at the window, and a schedule can open them to catch low sun. The shades work with your day instead of asking for attention.

Where do motorized shades help most?

Tall windows and stairwell windows you cannot reach without a ladder

Large glass doors and wide window walls

Media rooms and home offices, where screen glare changes through the day

Bedrooms, where one button closes every shade at once

Windows behind furniture or built-ins

Many clients start with one room and add more later. Because the motors can use batteries, that works well.

Why homeowners choose Window Fashions on Wheels

Rebecca Farris holds a degree in interior design and has served Louisville and Lexington homeowners since 1985. Most of her clients come from referrals and return for the next room. Motorized shades are only part of a good window plan, so she also helps you layer them with custom drapery, which is designed and sewn in Kentucky workrooms, using fabric lines such as Robert Allen, Kravet, Thibaut, and Fabricut.

Frequently asked questions about motorized blinds and shades in Louisville and Lexington, KY

  • Q: Where can I find motorized blinds near me in Louisville or Lexington?

Window Fashions on Wheels comes to you. Rebecca Farris brings samples to your home in Louisville, Lexington, and across Central Kentucky, helps you choose, and arranges installation. There is no showroom trip, and evening and weekend appointments are available.

  • Q: Can motorized shades work with Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple HomeKit?

Yes. Motorized shades can be connected to common smart-home systems, so you can use your voice or a phone app. We help you set that up and recommend what fits the system you already own.

  • Q: Do motorized blinds and shades need to be wired?

Not always. Many run on rechargeable batteries, which means no wiring and no wall repair. Hardwired options are also available and work well in new construction and renovations.

  • Q: Are electric and remote control blinds safe around children and pets?

Motorized shades have no dangling cords, so they avoid the main hazard of traditional corded blinds. Cordless designs also keep a room looking clean.

  • Q: Can motorized shades help keep my home comfortable?

They can. Light-filtering solar shades cut glare and UV in summer, cellular shades add insulation in winter, and a schedule closes or opens them at the right time of day without you doing anything.

  • Q: How do I get started?

Call or use the contact form to book a free in-home consultation. Rebecca will look at your windows, show you samples in your own light, and explain your control options. You decide what to order after the visit.
